Is mixed seating on public transportation the cause of all our problems?

According to these Kol Korei's in todays Yated, the answer would seem to be yes. The cause of our problems is התרופפות (weakening) in צניעות specifically mixed seating on public transportation.

Is a lack of tznius really the biggest problem in the Charedi community? Are there no bigger issues that need to be fixed? A generation ago everyone went on public transportation with mixed seating and no one said a word about it. According to this Kol Korei separate seating on public transportation is required by halacha. I guess they disagree with R' Moshe's famous teshuva allowing people to ride the NY subway even in the rush hour.

...and they likely disagree with R' Shlomo Zalman Auerbach too. See http://ohr.edu/yhiy/article.php/2609

Actually, it appears that he would have been in favor of the separate buses, as he himself got off the bus in the end.

I don't see where they say that it is assur to ride a regular bus, just that it is more modesty to ride a "mehadrin" bus. Nor do I see a claim that this is THE cause, just something that can be improved.

The second kol korei states
"לנסוע בהפרדה כפי שההלכה מחייבת"

It says black on white that separate seating is a halachik requirement

I presume that the "halachik requirement" is Even HaEzer 21:1 as the chareidim (myself included) understand it and wish to apply it. I have pointed out this source in numerous posts of my own and, to date, nobody has come up with a refutation.

See R' Moshe's teshuva אבן העזר חלק ב סימן י"ד where he is מתיר to go on the subway during the rush hour.

Rav Moshe's teshuva about what to do bdiavad in Eretz HaAmim has no relelvance on what to do l'chatchila in Eretz HaYehudim.

Actually, this whole thing turns the issue on its head. The recent over-emphasis on Tznius in the Chareidi community is the CAUSE of many serious problems. Problems such as: Physical Violence, Abuse of Women, Loshon Hora, Sinat Chinam, property damage, G'Neiva.

I will give the gedolim the benefit of the doubt and assume that they are being kept in the dark as to what's really going on out here.
